Nowadays, people are really into eating delicious, healthy, and unique food. Food has become a big part of our culture. Yes, in fact, good food is very dear to us. From memories of Thanksgiving pumpkin pie to popsicles on hot summer days, what we eat holds an important part in our hearts. We all know that eating food regularly is essential to our survival but does it matter what kinds of foods we are eating? Does changing our eating habits have an effect on us physically, mentally, and even spiritually?

Somewhere in African jungle, there were a group of people who wanted to build a hotel for tourists. The hotel was very successful; many people stayed there on their vacations, sightseeing the jungle. However, a nearby group of monkeys from the forest smelled the hotel's trashcan and began to eat the tourist's trashed leftovers. There was so much human food eaten that eventually, they gained weight to the point where they could no longer climb trees or hang on branches. All they seemed to do was take naps in the shade!. Then, some of the monkeys began to have back problems, their hair started falling out, and some even became paralyzed. Even their habits, actions, and countenances seemed to change.

Scientists, veterinarians, and Public Park associates gathered together to see what possibly could have caused the problem. After following the trail of evidence to the dumpster, they found out that these changes were directly related to their change of diet. The administration decided to secure the trashcan door, so that the monkeys could no longer have access. Forced to go back to the forest to climb trees and eat fruit off the trees, the monkeys gradually were back to their original conditions and were healthy again.

Those monkeys were suffering because they have violated the laws of nature. God did not make that happen; they did! All the diseases, sickeness, pains, sufferings were not created by God. It is through perverted appetite our organs and its powers became enfeebled, diseased, and crippled.

"Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." [1 Corinthians 6:19, 20] Brother and sisters, our bodies are Christ's purchased property, and we are not at liberty to do with them as we please. Our physical health effects our mental and spiritual health. Healthy and wholesome food will strengthen our body, giving us a clear and straight mind for our spiritual and daily lives. Therefore, we will be able to soak into Word of God more deeply; do His work more efficiently; hear His small still voice more clearly. Let us reform our diet today!
